Diversity

The Women’s Impact Alliance is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion among its staff, volunteers and the community we serve.

At The Women’s Impact Alliance we are driven by openness, collaboration and fellowship. We welcome all people, and pride ourselves on being an inclusive community where people can thrive and grow to their full potential.

Our organization was first created with inclusion in mind. We wanted to make the great gift of coaching and community available to young women social change leaders so that they might have the opportunity and access to develop their leadership and capabilities, just as any seasoned C-Suite executive.

As the years have gone by we have taken more steps to evolve our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives.

  • We worked with the University of Southern California to debias our application and selection process.
  • We increased the number of Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) coaches we work with by 47% in the last two years to be able to serve our BIPOC fellows with the best coach match for them.
  • We began several more initiatives designed to welcome and support all Catalysts and coaches.

Our Evolving Commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Our mission is to support young women social change leaders to build the new world. We believe the new world is one where diversity is embraced, equity is realized, and all are included. We are working actively together to be part of the change.

We recognize that in our diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, we will make mistakes, and have misunderstandings along the way. We commit to learning, being authentic and vulnerable, and repairing any harm done in as responsible and conscious way as we are able.

We commit to include diversity, equity and inclusion practices in all of our work, on behalf of our entire community including fellows, coaches, The Women’s Impact Alliance team/staff, partners, board members, volunteers and supporters.

What do we mean by Diversity Equity and Inclusion at The Women’s Impact Alliance

In embracing diversity, we welcome in and co-create a community of individuals rich with differences, including but not limited to gender identification, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, age, nationality, socio-economic situation, thinking and personality styles, physical abilities, spiritual/religious beliefs and practices, and education and professional background.

In embracing equity, we recognize that we don’t all start from the same place because advantages and barriers exist. It’s a process that acknowledges uneven starting places and privilege, and seeks to correct the imbalances by creating opportunities and possibilities for all. We believe systemic and social injustice is real and has real impact.

In embracing inclusion, we value and celebrate the ways we are each unique and different and demonstrate respect for different abilities, beliefs, backgrounds, and cultures so that all feel an unconditional sense of belonging for who they are.
